The Story House

Ta’Qali, Malta | 2025 | Speculative Design

This project explores the design of a children’s reading and learning space that combines play, imagination, and storytelling within the limited space of 8m by 8m by 8m. The design uses soft forms, warm colours, and playful elements such as slides, ball pits, and interactive corridors to create an engaging and stimulating environment for children. The space was organised around storytelling and reading areas, including reading pods filled with bookshelves and informal seating, encouraging children to gather, read, and interact with the stories. Architectural elements such as perforated walls, circular openings, and curved volumes were used to create visual connections, playful shadows, and a sense of exploration throughout the space. The overall concept aims to create a playful educational environment where learning, movement, and imagination could be integrated into one spatial experience.
